Weather alert! Heavy rainfall, thunderstorm for these Odisha districts today

Bhubaneswar: Since the southwest monsoon has become active again over Odisha, heavy rainfall and thunderstorm are likely to lash several Odisha districts today and during next five days.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Nuapada, Bargarh, Sonepur, Balangir in next 24 hours, a weather bulletin stated today.

Meanwhile, the thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha and Puri during the period.

According to Bhubaneswar MeT, a low pressure area is likely to form over westcentral & adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh- south Odisha coasts around 11th July,2021.

Under effect of active monsoon and possible low pressure over the Bay of Bengal, many districts of Odisha may witness heavy downpour and thunderstorm till July 13.

1. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Sundargarh.

2.Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Yellow warning (valid from 8.30 AM of July 10 upto 8.30 AM of July 11)

1. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Puri.

2.Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri,Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore and Mayurbhanj.
