Weather alert! Odisha likely to receive more rainfall from July 21

Bhubaneswar: While incessant rains have thrown normal life out of gear in several parts of the State since Saturday, weathermen have predicted more rains under the impact a low  pressure likely to be formed over north Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood on July 21.

As per a latest bulletin of India Meteorological Department (IMD), the possible low pressure would trigger heavy to very heavy rain in coastal and north Odisha from the night of July 21. As a result, water level of several rivers in districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Keonjhar will go up. Besides, it is also likely to trigger flood in rivers like Budhabalanga, Subarnarekha, Brahmani and Baitarani.

Meanwhile, the IMD regional centre here has forecast heavy rainfall in several districts of north interior Odisha, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Cuttack in next 24 hours.

Though the State Government has ruled out impending floods in the State, all district administrations have been instructed to remain alert to face any kind of eventuality.
