Weather Update: Heavy rainfall warning issued for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today predicted heavy rainfall at  isolated places in Odisha along with many other states.

As per the latest bulletin issued by the National Weather Forecasting Centre of IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and heavy rainfall at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Gujarat Region and Konkan and Goa.

“Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely at isolated places over west Rajasthan and Andaman and Nicobar Islands; with lightning and  gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and Telangana and with lightning at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

Besides, strong wind with speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is very likely over southwest, west central and north Arabian sea and along and off Gujarat coast. Squally weather (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) is also likely over south Andaman sea, the weathermen said.

Issuing the weather warning, IMD advised fishermen not to venture into sea in these areas.
