Weather Update: Night temperature to rise in Odisha due to possible ‘Mandous’

Bhubaneswar: Night temperature in Odisha is likely to rise due to possible Cyclone ‘Mandous’ over the Bay of Bengal.

According to forecast by regional meteorological centre of IMD, there will be no large change in minimum temperature during next 3 days. The night temperature will rise by 2-3 degree Celsius in subsequent 2 days at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Under influence of the possible cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal, southern part of Odisha is likely to receive rainfall.

“Light rain very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawrangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha during December 10 to 11,” Bhubaneswar MeT stated in its weather bulletin today.

As per the IMD, a Well marked low pressure area lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal by today evening.

Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards, intensify further gradually into a Cyclonic Storm around 7th December evening and reach Southwest Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts by 8th December morning. It will continue to move west-northwestwards towards north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts during subsequent 48 hours.

The system has no direct impact over Odisha, the IMD cleared.
