Weather update: Rainfall to continue in these Odisha districts today

Bhubaneswar: Rain will continue to lash several parts of the state, including the capital city today.

As per the latest bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here, light to moderate rain or thundersshower is very likely to occur at one or two places over 10 districts till 1.30 PM today.

The districts are Balasore, Keonjhar, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Puri, Khordha (including Bhubaneswar), Nabarangpur, Bhadrak, Angul and Ganjam.

Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted a fresh low pressure area over north Andaman Sea and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal around October 9. It is very likely to move north-westwards towards north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts with gradual intensification into a depression during subsequent two  to three days. The depression may further lead to a cyclone.

Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Director HR Biswas said the possibility of cyclone formation can be known after two to three days.  However, under the influence of the low pressure , rainfall activity is very likely to increase over Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh between October 11 and 13.
