Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Centre has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in many parts of Odisha for the next five days.

As per the weather bulletin, parts of south and north coastal Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall and squally wind at 35-45 kmph, due to low pressure likely to form over northern part of Bay of Bengal around June 30.

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Koraput, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack and Balasore. Moderate thunderstorm with lightning will lash the districts of Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurdha, Jharsuguda, Deogarh and Sambalpur between June 28 and June 29.

Furthermore, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Sundargarh and Deogarh will also experience lashing rainfall between June 29 and June 30.

Puri, Khurdha, Jagatsingpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Koraput and Kalahandi will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall between June 30 and July 1, as per the IMD forecast.

Similar weather conditions will prevail between two consecutive days on July 1 and July 2 in Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Angul, Boudh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Ganjam, Khordha, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Koraput and Jharsuguda.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea on June 30 and July 1. Those in deep sea are advised to return to coast by nightfall of June 29.
