Bhubaneswar: The FLO Bhubaneswar and the UNZIP hosted an Open Mic webinar on June 14, 2021, on the first day of Raja, the famed Odisha festival of womanhood.

Titled ‘My Period Experience’, the webinar saw participation of women from various walks of life sharing their experiences of ‘that-time-of-the-month’. From recollections of the first time it happened to enduring the pain while multitasking work-home to safety and hygiene concerns and above all, the stigma still attached to the P-word, a myriad of anecdotes and tales were discussed and talked about.

Devidutta Dash, an Odia biotech engineer and entrepreneur, whose company Mirai manufactures organic female hygiene products such as tampons was the chief guest of this e-session and it was moderated by Tanaya Patnaik, Executive Director of Sambad Group.

FLO Bhubaneswar Chair Sunita Mohanty presided over the proceedings and said, “We are changing with time but still there is a long way to go. Various myths about periods still exist and we should make efforts to bring in the change; by changing the attitude and speaking out, we can bring in a great change to this society as a whole, with respect to women or girls in particular.”
