Bhubaneswar: To promote Odia literature, a website– www.recite.world– was unveiled virtually by Governor Ganeshi Lal on the occasion of Niladri Bije yesterday.
Eastern Media Ltd Executive Director Tanaya Patnaik and Mo School Abhijan Chairman Sushmita Bagchi attended the virtual launching ceremony as speakers.
On the occasion, Udaygiri Foundation Chairman and ReciteWorld Programme Lead JP Jagdev said the foundation works towards preventing the state’s culture, tradition, and language from imminent extinction, misinterpretation and corruption. It promotes understanding and usage of the language among the current generation.
www.recite.world is a web/mobile application, where our past and present literary works will be made available to the public free of cost for them to easily access anytime anywhere, he added.
“As a part of the strategies to improve the acceptance and usage, we will make the contents available in dramatized audiobook format showing listeners the original texts. The new-age users then can familiarise themselves with both the written texts and their proper pronunciations. We hope, this would help our language gain wider acceptance and deserving respectability. In the first batch of authors, we have chosen 50 short stories from the greats like Fakirmohan Senapati, Godabarisha Mahapatra, Lakshmikanta Mahapatra, Bhagabati Charana Panigrahi, Surendra Mohanty, and Akhila Mohana Pattnaik,” informed Jagdev.
