Weekend shutdown announced in this Odisha district

Sambalpur: With an aim to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Sambalpur district administration today declared weekend shutdown in the district in the month of August.

In an order, Sambalpur District Collector Shubham Saxena announced shutdown in the entire district on 8th – 9th, 15th – 16th, 22nd – 23rd and 29th – 30th of August.

No two-wheelers except for the exempted categories/activities will be allowed to ply during the shutdown, it read.

During the shutdown, all activities shall be closed except the following:

All medical establishments including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, medicine stores, movement of ambulance and all medical personnel.

District Emergency and Municipal Administration/Police/Fire Services/ Excise Officials/ Forest Officials Central and State Government Officials on emergency duty

Telecom services, Petrol Pumps and Print and Electronic media identified by District Police are exempted from the shutdown.

Also, LPG distribution, home delivery of cooking gas and associated facilities, personnel and vehicular movement in the district are exempted.

“Water Supply, sanitation and sewerage workers, electricity supply and distribution and movement of goods and good carriers, whether loaded or unloaded, industrial establishments, factories, mining operation and construction activities (Govt. Agencies) are also exempted from the shutdown,” the order stated.

The shutdown restrictions will be relaxed for Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Services and allied activities Service sector, industries, including IT/ITES, hotel and hospitality units, operation of hotels and hospitality units, including their associated offices, movement of staff and associated personnel.

Road transport on highways and road movement of transiting vehicles will also be allowed, the order stated.
