Weekly health check-up at schools in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, PK Mohapatra today asked the District Administrations, Municipal Commissioners and Health officials to undertake weekly health check-up at schools in the State.

In a letter, Mohapatra directed the officials to take necessary steps for mobiliation of local ASHAS/ANMs for conducting health screening of students, teachers and non-teaching staffs at nearby schools. This will also help facilitate the testing of symptomatic cases by RRT, he added.

“Although separate SOPs in this regard have also been issued by School & Mass Education Department, still we have to take precautionary measures in order to avoid any eventuality in view of COVID-19,” the letter read.

Worth mentioning, the State government allowed schools and hostels for Class X and XII to reopen from January 8, 2020 after a gap of nine months.
