Well Marked Low Pressure Area likely to intensify into Depression over BoB during next 24 hours

Bhubaneswar: The Well Marked Low Pressure Area formed over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman Sea is likely to intensify into a Depression during next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar forecasted today.

Warning for fishermen:

Fishermen are advised not to venture into deep sea areas of southwest Bay of Bengal from 1st December and westcentral Bay of Bengal from 2nd December till further notice. Whoever is out at sea is advised to return to the coast by 1st December.

In its evening bulletin, the IMD said, “The Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining South Andaman Sea moved west-northwestwards and lay over Southeast Bay of Bengal at 0830 hours IST of today, the 30th November, 2023. It is likely to move westnorthwestwards and intensify into a Depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours. Continuing to move further west-northwestwards, it would intensify gradually into a Cyclonic Storm over Southwest Bay of Bengal around 3rd December. Thereafter, it would move northwestwards and reach North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coasts around the early morning of 4th December as a cyclonic storm.”

Minimum temperatures observed appreciable rise at one or two places over the districts of North Interior Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly above normal at a few places, appreciably above normal at many places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciably above normal at a few places, above normal at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.

The highest maximum temperature of 32.2°C was recorded at Jajpur and Sambalpur and the lowest minimum temperature of 14.5°C was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.
