Well marked low pressure to intensify; Red alert for these Odisha districts today

Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area formed over North Bay of Bengal became well marked over northwest Bay of Bengal off North Odisha and West Bengal coasts today.

According to IMD, the well marked low pressure is likely to concentrate into a depression during next 12 hours.

Under influence of the above system, several districts in Odisha are likely to receive intense spell of rainfall today.

The IMD issued red warning for 10 districts, orange warning for 11 districts and yellow warning for 9 districts of Odisha for today.

Red warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) at a few places with isolated extremely heavy falls (>20cm) very likely to occur over the districts of Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Deogarh.

Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri.

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Gajapati and Ganjam.
