Puri: A YouTuber named Animesh Chakraborty, who earlier flew a drone equipped with a high-definition camera over Jagannath temple in Puri, was arrested today by a special police team from the Barrackpore locality of West Bengal.

Taking to its Twitter handle, Puri Police wrote, “The YouTuber, Accused in drone flying case over Sri Jagannath Temple, who was evading arrest since the incident, has been finally nabbed by a special team lead by DSP City, Sri KK Hariprasad, from Barrackpore, West Bengal.”

It is pertinent to mention here that after facing wrath from various sections of society on social media for allegedly demanding a huge amount per drone shot on the aerial view of the Vaishnavite shrine, the YouTuber came up with a clarification and apology message.

Animesh previously confessed to his mistake terming it as something ‘unintentional’.

In the video message, Animesh refuted the allegation over the sale of footage of the Puri Jagannath temple for Rs 20,000 clarifying that he did not sell any footage of the Srimandir to anyone.

Even as the top of Srimandir and its premises have been declared as a ‘no-fly zone’, the drone’s entry into the restricted area raised serious security concerns among devotees and servitors.

After the matter came to the fore, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) initiated legal steps against the YouTuber. Subsequently, the SJTA lodged an FIR with the local police in this regard.
