When Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik hosted Pakhala party for national leaders

Bhubaneswar: While people residing in Odisha and outside are celebrating Pakhala Dibasa today, it is needless to say that the quintessential delicacy is savoured by Odias only.

The state luncheons are typically an elaborate spread of mouth watering delicacies comprising of dishes keeping in mind the taste of invitees. However, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik once hosted a Pakhala party for former President Pranab Mukherjee, BJP patriarch Lal Krishna Advani, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury.

Patnaik played host to the dignitaries at his residence Naveen Niwas in last January. The distinguished leaders had arrived here to participate in the book launch of ‘The Tall Man Biju Patnaik’.

The traditional Odia food had Piaja Peetha, Saga Badi, and Sajana Chhuin Bhaja as side dishes followed by Chhena Poda as dessert.

The much-loved summer delicacy was served on banana leaves and brass wares.
