White tiger ‘Subhranshu’ dies at Odisha’s Nandankanan zoo

Bhubaneswar: Ailing white tiger ‘Subhranshu’ died at the Nandankanan Zoological Park in Odisha capital, today.

The animal was suffering from blood protozoan disease and undergoing treatment under the supervision of zoo veterinarians. However, it breathed its last around 10.15 am this morning. Autopsy will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death, zoo sources said.

The tiger had stopped food intake inside the feeding chamber since October 12. Subhranshu was born to Royal Bengal Tiger (RBT) Maneesh and white tigress Sneha on July 28, 2014. With the death of the tiger, the zoo now houses 12 male and 13 female tigers.
