Puri: A probe will reveal the truth as to why the term ‘duplicate key’ was used by the previous government, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said mediapersons today when asked to clear the air on original keys of Ratna Bhandar (Lord’s treasury) in Jagannath temple in Puri.

“Our priority now is to complete the process of inventory preparation and asset evaluation. We will take a final call on a probe after this task is over. The ‘duplicate keys’ were quite small in size, and apparently, those were not the keys meant for the locks,” the Law Minister expressed.

Air on the much-debated issue can only be cleared after a probe is conducted, Minister Harichandan stated.

Besides, on the reopening of Ratna Bhandar, the Law Minister said that a date will soon be announced once the Rath Yatra festival is over. Shifting of valuables from Bhitara Ratna Bhandar will begin accordingly.

Worth mentioning, the keys which were brought from the government treasury in the pilgrim town could not help open the door locks. The 16-member high-power committee had to break open the locks of Ratna Bhandar to enter into it on July 14.

Valuables of the sibling deities were shifted to a designated strongroom from Bahara Ratna Bhandar. The process to open was started at 1.28 PM yesterday and stopped later due to lack of time.
