Widow gang raped, murdered in Odisha!

Dhenkanal: A 45-year-old Dalit widow has been allegedly gang raped and murdered in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district late yesterday night. Police recovered the body this morning.

As per reports, the deceased woman identified as Jamini Patra from Balikuma village under Kamakhyanagar tehsil in the district was gang raped and then brutally murdered by unidentified miscreants.

The anti-socials allegedly broke into the house, raped the woman and then assaulted her leading to death.

“The younger son of the deceased saw some men from the village thrashing his mother and fleeing. He heard his mother screaming. Out of fear, he ran to the villagers for help. The villagers did not come to his rescue. In the morning, it was found that the woman has died,” Kamakhyanagar SDPO, Sk Abdul Karim said.

Cause of death would be ascertained from the post-mortem report, police added.

Meanwhile, Kankadahada police have detained two persons in this connection on suspicion of their involvement.
