Wild tusker tramples woman to death in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: A 67-year-old woman was trampled to death by a wild tusker at Akula village in Keonjhar district while she had gone to Malanda forest in Telkoi area to collect Mahula this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Kadali Ransingh, wife of one Rabi Ransingh of Akula village.

Sources said when the woman was collecting Mahula in the forest at around 7 am, the pachyderm came out of nowhere, lifted her with its trunk and dashed her to the ground before crushing her to death.

On receiving information, forest officials reached the spot and began an inquiry into the incident.
