Bhubaneswar: The domestic discord between senior BJD leader and Balangir royal family member AU Singh Deo’s younger son Arkesh Narayan Singh Deo and the latter’s wife Adrija Manjari Singh took a political turn today.

Adrija, the granddaughter of Manda royal family member and former Prime Minister VP Singh, today urged the voters of Balangir not to vote for her in-laws in the upcoming polls in Odisha.

Singh Deo’s elder son and former MP Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo is now fighting the polls from Balangir Assembly seat on a BJD ticket.

Adrija made her appeal to the voters at a presser at Balangir today.

Adrija had earlier lodged domestic violence and dowry torture complaint against her husband and in-laws with Dehradun police in Uttarakhand.

She had alleged that her husband Arkesh and her in-laws AU Singh Deo, Bijyalaxmi Devi, Kalikesh and Meghna Rana were torturing her and preventing her to visit Odisha.

Adrija also alleged that Arkesh had once engaged a contract killer to eliminate her.

Notably, Arkesh had tied the knot with Adrija on November 23, 2017. The royal couple got engaged in domestic discord a few years after marriage.

Arkesh had unsuccessfully contested from Balangir Assembly seat on a BJD ticket in 2019. He was defeated by senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra.

Kalikesh, as BJD nominee, too got defeated by his relative and BJP nominee Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo from Balangiri Lok Sabha seat in 2019.

Arkesh, however, alleged that Narasingha and his son Samarendra Mishra, the Congress nominee for Balangir Assembly seat, are trying to take political advantage in the polls through Adrija.
