Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today thanked the people of Odisha for their support for last 24 years.
The BJD faced a defeat in the hands of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2024 Assembly polls in Odisha.
“We are grateful to the people of Odisha for their support to our party for the last 24 years. This time also our party got around 40 per cent votes, just 3 per cent down from the last Assembly polls in the state. However, we could not win enough seats in the recent polls. But, we will continue to serve the people of Odisha in future,” said BJD leader Sasmit Patra in a presser here.
The regional party also congratulated the BJP for its electoral victory in Odisha.
BJD leaders Manas Mangaraj and Sulata Deo were also present at the press conference.
Notably, the candidates of the BJP have either won or established lead in around 80 Assembly seats in the state.
On the other hand, nominees of the BJD have either won or established lead in around 50 seats.
The Congress party candidates have either won or established lead in around 15 seats.
The BJP is all set to form its maiden government in Odisha.
