Will meet Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik if time permits: Mamata

Bhubaneswar, Apr 18:

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Benerjee this evening arrived at Odisha capital on a three-day tour to the state.

While Mamata Banerjee’s visit has set the rumour mills running overtime on possible aggregation of anti-BJP forces, the Trinamool Congress chief, however, sought to put a lid on it by saying that her visit is purely to meet party’s arrested parliamentarian Sudip Bandyopadhyay who is currently undergoing treatment at a city-based private hospital.

“Our MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay is unwell. I have come to see him. I will meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik if time permits,” Mamata Banerjee told reporters at the city airport.

I also wish to visit Puri to pay obeisance to Lord Jagannath, she added.

Worth mentioning, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee rushed to the hospital from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) to meet Bandyopadhyay.

“Health condition of Sudip Bandyopadhyay is not good. He has lost considerable body weight. His mental and physical condition is not good either. I also spoke to the doctors about his condition,” she added after meeting the ailing politician.

After her visit to the hospital, she left for Puri where she will spend the night at Circuit House.

Notably, TMC MPs Sudip Bandyopadhyaya and Tapas Pal have been arrested for their alleged complicity in Rose Valley chit fund scam.
