Bhubaneswar: BJP leader Dilip Ray has moved the Orissa High Court seeking cancellation of the election of BJD’s Sarada Prashad Nayak from Rourkela Assembly segment in the recently concluded polls.
In his petition before the HC, Ray, a former Union Minister, alleged that Nayak has furnished false and incomplete data in his affidavit while filing nomination for the polls.
According to Ray, Nayak has suppressed facts about the criminal cases registered against him in the poll affidavit. Besides, Nayak, a former minister in Odisha, has not provided the complete information about his movable and immovable assets while filing the nomination for 2024 Assembly polls, alleged Ray in his petition.
The BJP leader has claimed that he had raised the issue before the Returning Officer but his allegations were overlooked by the latter.
Ray has urged the HC to declare the election of Nayak from Rourkela Assembly seat as null and void.
