With 6 more COVID-19 cases, Odisha’s total count surges to 169

Bhubaneswar: A total count of COVID-19 cases surged to 169 in Odisha after six persons tested positive for the deadly virus today.

The six new cases were reported from Jajpur (4) and Bhadrak (2) districts.

According to Information & Public Relations Department, Odisha, two positive cases in Bhadrak are 45-year-old male and 55-year-old male. Four positive cases in Jajpur are 48-year-old male, 55-year-old male, 60-year-old male and 62-year-old male. All are Kolkata returnees and were in quarantine.

The contact tracing exercise is underway by the respective district administrations.

Out of six, two have been detected from Basudevpur and Dhamanagar Blocks in Bhadrak district with travel history to West Bengal, informed Bhadrak district administration in a tweet.

Source said that both Kolkata returnees in Bhadrak district are from Laxmidaspur Gram Panchayat (GP) under Basudevpur Block and Sahaspur GP under Dhamanagar Block.

Meanwhile, four persons infected with novel coronavirus are from Erabanka GP under Bari Block in Jajpur district.

With this, the total number of positive cases in Jajpur stands at 52 with 51 active cases. Similarly, the number increased to 21 with 9 active cases in Bhadrak.

Earlier in the day, one positive case was detected from Sundargarh district.
