Bhubaneswar: Rayagada MLA Makaranda Muduli is the ‘poorest’ legislator in Odisha, said, the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) in its report today.
The ADR, in association with the Odisha Election Watch, have analyzed the affidavits submitted by all candidates while filing their nominations ahead of the 2019 Assembly elections and subsequent bye-elections in the state before releasing the report.
Muduli, who had won the Rayagada Assembly seat as an independent nominee in 2019 Assembly polls in Odisha, topped the list of 10 MLAs with the lowest assets in the state, said the report.
As per the report, Muduli has only movable assets worth Rs 15,000 and no immoveable asset.
Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA from Bari seat in Jajpur, Sunanda Das, has been placed at the second position in the list of 10 MLAs with lowest assets in Odisha. He has assets worth around Rs 8 lakh, said the ADR report.
Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Baripada in Mayurbhanj, Prakash Soren, got the third position in the list with assets worth Rs 9 lakh.
Khallikote MLA Suryamani Baidya (BJD) with assets worth Rs 11 lakh, Malkangiri MLA Aditya Madhi (BJP) with Rs 12 lakh and Chitrakonda MLA Purna Chandra Baka (BJD) with assets worth around Rs 12 lakh placed at fourth, fifth and sixth position in the list respectively.
Labour Minister and Rourkela BJD MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak with movable and immovable assets worth around Rs 13 lakh got seventh position in the list.
Udala MLA Bhaskar Madhei (BJP) with assets worth Rs 19 lakh and Talcher MLA Brajakishore Pradhan (BJD) with Rs 20 lakh assets have been placed at eighth and ninth position in the list respectively.
BJD MLA from Choudwar-Cuttack segment, Souvic Biswal, got 10th position in the list of legislators with the lowest assets in Odisha. Souvic, the son of former MLA Pravat Biswal, has assets worth around Rs 20 lakh, said the ADR report.
