Woman, 2-yr-old daughter found dead in her house in Odisha’s Ganjam; probe on

Polsara: A middle-aged woman and her 2-year-old daughter were found dead today evening under mysterious circumstances inside a room of her house at Sana Baragaon village of Nimina panchayat under Polsara police limits in Ganjam district.

The deceased woman was identified as 30-year-old Manika Gouda and her daughter as Geli.

According to a source, Manika was the second wife of Bhikari Gouda from the village. They had married around three years ago. The first wife of Bhikari has died and she is survived by a son.

On being informed, Polsara police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident to ascertain the cause of death, which is underway. Police have registered a case (No-166/2024) in this connection.

“We are awaiting a post-mortem report and whether it is a case of death by suicide or a case of murder can be ascertained only after a report comes in,” a senior cop of Polsara PS said.

Meanwhile, Manika’s mother alleged that both the mother-daughter duo were killed by the deceased’s in-laws.
