Woman allegedly gang raped after abduction in Odisha

Pipili, Sept 15:

In yet another shocking incident in the Pipili area of Odisha’s Puri district, a 22-year-old woman was abducted and allegedly gang raped late on Sunday evening, reports said.gang rape pipili

According to reports, four unidentified youths barged into the house of the victim, who lives in a village in Teisipur panchayat under Satasankha outpost under the jurisdiction of Pipili police station at about 7 PM when no male member of the family was present. The women members tried to resist the youths but failed. The attackers then dragged the victim into a Tata Sumo jeep and fled the spot.

The victim’s relatives reported the matter to Satasankha police station. While the police were on the lookout for the abductors, the latter, after allegedly torturing and gang raping the girl, threw her out of the vehicle at a distance from her house and disappeared.

However, medical examination of the woman would be able to prove whether she was subjected to gang rape or only torture or both,

The victim, who managed to reach home, fell unconscious and was rushed to the government hospital at Sakhigopal from where she was shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. But after her condition became critical, she had to be shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Till the filing of report, the victim had not regained her consciousness.

Sources in the locality said that the incident was the fallout of a failed love affair and that a youth of the village along with his friends from Dandamukundapur area are said to be involved in the incident.

While the police have raided several areas of Dandamukundapur, they are yet to nab the culprits.
