Woman arrested in Odisha for duping jobseekers

Bhubaneswar, May 9:

A woman was today arrested by Twin City Commissionerate police for allegedly duping jobseekers of lakhs of rupees.

The accused 40-year-old woman identified as Mamata Bhatta allegedly cheated aspirants of Rs 4 lakh by promising jobs at navaratna public sector undertaking National Aluminium Company (Nalco). She had even issued forged appointment letters to the candidates.

“A cheating case was registered against the woman at Chandrasekharpur police station. She had issued forged appointment letters to aspirants promising job at Nalco. She has been arrested today,” Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said.

Various jobless youth had filed a complaint with Chandrasekharpur police after which a case was registered on April 25 this year under section 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, and 34 of IPC.

Following this, the woman had fled and was reportedly hiding in Nimapara. She was arrested by special squad from Nimapara after a raid.

The accused hails from Matha Sahi in Nimapara and is a resident Niladri Vihar here.

Worth mentioning, she was also allegedly involved in a cheating and forgery case for which a case was registered at Chandrasekharpur police station under section 419, 420, 468, 471, 506 and 34 of IPC.
