Baripada: A woman was beaten to death allegedly by her husband following a heated argument that turned violent in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district today.

The deceased was identified as Basanti Ho.

The incident was reported from Nabara area under Udala police limits in Mayurbhanj district.

According to reports, Rasai Ho and Basanti Ho were residing at a colony developed at Nabara area. The brawl broke out between the couple over some reason in the morning following which the irate husband started beating up his wife.

When she defended, Rasai continued thrashing her to death. Later, he fled from area.

After the incident came to fore, the neighbours informed the local police. On receiving information, Udala police reached the spot and recovered the body.

A probe has been initiated into the incident and operation has been launched to nab the accused.
