Pipili police have arrested deceased woman Mili Pradhan’s husband Naba Pradhan and her mother-in-law in connection with the murder.

Naba and his mother had taken Mili to Capital Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

“The husband and wife often used to have quarrels after their marriage. Her in-laws have killed my sister for dowry. My brother-in-law Naba Pradhan used to regularly send my sister to our home for money. He used to beat my sister after taking booze. Only a few days back I had given him Rs 10,000 to purchase a motorcycle. My sister’s in-laws have first killed her and then set her on fire after pouring kerosene on her,” said deceased woman’s brother Prabhat Kumar Baral.

“Prabhat complained in the morning that his sister’s in-laws have killed her by setting her afire after dousing her with kerosene and her body has been kept at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. The victim’s body has been completely charred. The truth will come out after the investigation is over,” said Kavita Sahu, Sub Inspector, Pipili police station.
