Bhubaneswar: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly burnt to death by her in-laws for dowry at Gandarpur village under Nandankanan police limits on the city outskirts today. However, police have detained her in-laws for interrogation.

Sources said one Rashmirekha of Guruthenga village had married to one Asish Padhiary of Gokanpur area around one and a half years ago. The couple has a four-month-old daughter.

As per a complaint lodged by Rashmirekha’s father Gurucharan Jena, Rashmirekha’s husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law killed her and later set her body on fire over dowry.

Meanwhile, Nandankanan police seized the body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem. Rashmirekha’s husband is absconding after the incident, sources said.
