Woman cop accused of sexually harassing young girl in Odisha

Umerkote: In a bizarre incident, a woman Home Guard allegedly sexually harassed a young woman in Umerkote area of Nabarangpur district. The matter came to fore after the young woman lodged a complaint at the Umerkote police station accusing the woman cop of harassing her sexually for the past four years.

As per the complainant, the woman Home Guard from Bhimaguda area of Umerkote picked up the young woman from her home in 2016. The cop then took the young woman to Dabugaon and kept her in a house for eight days.

Later the woman Home Guard took the complainant to a rented house in Kusumguda and kept her along with two other young women. The cop used to have physical relationship with the three young women at the house, the complainant added.

However, in the wee hours on May 17, the woman Home Guard dropped the complainant at her house and threatened her family members. The cop told the young woman’s family members she would end her life if they reveal anything about the homosexual relationship and blame them for the suicide, the complaint mentioned.

When the woman Home Guard was transferred to the Dabugaon police station, the young woman’s family members mustered courage and lodged a complaint at Umerkote PS today.

After being asked, the Umerkote SDPO refused to comment on the matter and said investigation is on.
