Woman cop misbehaviour: Odisha police body differs with DCP’s statement

Odisha Police Officers’ Association (OPOA) today strongly opposed the statement of Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora in the case pertaining to alleged misbehaviour of a woman Crime Branch officer by two government pleaders inside the elevator of the Orissa High Court.

“Whatever the DCP has stated is his personal statement. The DCP should not have made such statement while the matter is under investigation. The incident should be probed by a senior police officer,” stated OPOA president Satyajit Mishra.

On the other hand, while the OPOA president has opposed the DCP’s statement, Twin City Police Commissioner Y B Khurania has said: “Different opinions have been expressed in the misbehaviour case. In spite of that investigation is on proper track. Investigation is being carried out as per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The CCTV footage is being examined in detail.”

“The Investigating Officer (IO) has seen the video footage. Prima facie it doesn’t appear to be a case of misbehaviour. Other angles are being probed,” Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora had stated.

It may be recalled here that a woman officer of the Crime Branch had alleged of having been misbehaved by two government pleaders inside the High Court elevator on February 7.

The woman officer had lodged a written complaint with the Crime Branch SP in this connection.
