Woman cop tests COVID-19 positive in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: A woman police employee of Commissionerate Police has tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Bhubaneswar.

The staff is currently posted as the Constable at Capital Police Station. The police station was sanitised after her test report confirmed positive on Saturday.

Other employees, who had come in contact with the infected woman constable, have been sent on quarantine.

In fact, the woman constable was in quarantine for a period of 15 days after she developed flu like symptoms. Her swab was collected and the test result came positive yesterday, said ACP Manas Ranjan Garnaik.

He refuted the report on sealing of the police station following the woman employee tested positive.

As she was in quarantine, there is no truth in the rumour doing the rounds that the police station will be sealed. The complainant can visit to the police station without any fear and there will be no interruption in conducting investigation into cases, he cleared.

Worth mentioning, the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the functioning of several police stations after many police Covid warriors were diagnosed and tested positive for the coronavirus. After Chandrasekharpur, Chandaka and Mancheswar police stations, now the virus has spread to the Capital Police Station.
