Woman cop turns Santa for transgenders in Odisha

Gajapati: At a time when the whole world is immersed in Christmas celebration, a woman cop of Odisha has given a unique gift to transgenders bringing smile on their faces. With an aim to make transgenders financially independent and discourage them from begging, Gajapati SP Sarah Sharma today handed over an Omfed parlour eight third genders.

The Gajapati SP inaugurated the Omfed parlour near the district headquarters hospital.

The move will benefit patients and their attendants as well as the Omfed parlour will provide warm water and food apart from milk and milk related products at affordable prices.

Also, the SP assured the transgenders to provide Rs 3 lakh from MLA LAD and Rs two lakh from MP LAD fund for further development of the parlour.

Earlier, Sarah was in news for taking several good initiatives on different occasions for the benefit of the people.

In Malkangiri, the district headquarters hospital authorities engaged transgenders as security guards. The move drew praises from people of different walks of life.
