However, three others involved in the attack managed to give a slip to the police team.

According to a police source, the proclaimed offender identified as Bansidhar Mallick was absconding since 2009. Acting on a tip-off that he had come to his house, the team carried out a raid to arrest the accused in a case but failed to do so due to the attack by his wife and daughter.

A constable named Purnachandra Singh sustained severe injuries and his hand got fractured. Even to the extent, the family snatched away Anantapur outpost in-charge’s mobile phone and could manage to save Bansidhar from being arrested by overpowering the cops, the source said.

Police have registered a case (No-503/2023) following the arrest and launched a probe. Manjulata and her daughter were forwarded to a local court later in the day.
