Woman, daughter die by suicide, make minor boy consume poison in Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: In a shocking incident, a woman and her daughter allegedly poisoned themselves to death while they made the latter’s son consume poison at Patimal village under Khaprakhol police limits in Odisha’s Balangir district, today.

According to reports, the daughter of the woman was staying with her mother after the death of her husband. The two were working as labourers.

While police have recovered the bodies for post-mortem, the six-year-old boy was rescued and rushed to the Khaprakhol Hospital for treatment. He was later shifted to the Patnagarh Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Though the reason behind their extreme step was yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that they decided to end their lives over acute poverty. The two had reportedly borrowed money and were struggling to repay it.
