Woman detained for child theft in Odisha’s Puri

Puri, Mar 27:

Police have detained a woman of Markandeswar Noliasahi in Odisha’s district headquarters town of Puri on charges of child theft.

The woman has been identified as Jhumuri Naik.

According to reports, Jhumuri, a resident of Markandeswar Noliasahi had a year back brought a four-year-old child from Bhubaneswar.

Allegedly, the woman used to subject the child to physical and mental torture. Local residents suspected the woman to have stolen the child and reported the matter at the local police station.

Following the complaint police after informing the District Child Protection Committee rescued the child and has detained the woman for interrogation. Police have got the child admitted to the hospital.
