Transgender dies at Puri Jagannath Temple as she jumps off Srimandir’s Gumuta

Puri: A transgender died at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri as she jumped off the Gumuta of the temple, today.

She sustained critical injuries after falling off the Gumuta and was rescued by police. She was rushed to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital, where doctor declared her dead.

The identity of the deceased was yet to be established, till last reports came in.

Some servitors said she reached the Gumuta by walking on the boundary wall from Anandabazar of the temple.

The reason behind her extreme step was not known.
