Woman dies by suicide hours after husband’s death in accident

Kendrapara: A pall of gloom descended on Rajkanika area of Kendrapara district today after a woman died by suicide when she received the news of her husband’s death.

As per reports, one Manoj Tarai from Cherantapada village under Rajkanika police limits was returning on a motorcycle from his workplace in Bhadrak on May 25 evening. His motorcycle met with an accident at Mahulia Chhak in Chandbali and Tarai suffered grievous injuries.

He was initially admitted to Rajkanika hospital and then shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. His family members then took him to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar in a critical condition where he died while undergoing treatment last night.

After receiving information about her husband’s death, the woman, Swapnarani Tarai reportedly hung herself with a rope at around 11.40 am at her in-laws’ house.

Worth mentioning, Tarai and the woman married last January.

According to latest reports, the police reached the spot and sent the woman’s body for post mortem.
