Woman dies, hubby critical in road mishap in Odisha’s Paradip

Bhubaneswar: A woman was killed and her husband was injured in a road mishap in Odisha’s Paradip town today.

The deceased has been identified as Golap Purty. Golap’s husband Jayaram Purty, who sustained grievous injuries in the mishap, is an employee of Paradip port, sources said.

The incident took place when the couple was returning to their home at JB Colony in the port town from a nearby place on their scooter in the evening.

A dumper hit the scooter from the rear at Atharbanki Square. Golap died at the spot and Jayram sustained grievous injuries in the mishap.

Locals rescued Jayram and rushed him to a hospital in a critical condition. On being informed, police reached the spot and arrested the dumper driver, sources said.
