Jagatsinghpur: A woman died, and her husband and son were injured after a car hit their motorcycle near Pankapal on Cuttack-Paradip Road in Jagatsinghpur district.

The deceased woman has been identified as Jhili Majhi, aged about 28 years. The injured two have been admitted to Manijanga CHC in Jagatsinghpur.

According to reports, Sumant Behera (40), a resident of Indira Colony at Janapal village under Pankapal GP, along with his wife Jhili was traveling on a motorcycle to drop their 5-year-old son at his school today morning.

In front of Pankapal High School, a car bearing the Rgd. No. OD 05 AB 5192 hit Sumant's motorcycle from behind following which Jhili died on the spot. Sumant and his son were injured in the incident.

The locals rescued both the injured duo and rushed them to Manijanga CHC for treatment.

However, the car driver escaped from the spot. Police reached the accident site and seized the car.

Expressing outrage over the incident, the locals blocked the road disrupting vehicular movement.
