New Delhi: In a tragic incident that unfolded on Sunday, a woman named Sakshi Ahuja met with a fatal accident in Delhi after coming in contact with an electric pole while attempting to navigate a waterlogged road.
Sakshi, accompanied by her sister and three children, had arrived at the New Delhi Railway Station early in the morning, around 5:30 am, with intentions to board a train to Bhopal.
As the group ventured outside the station, they encountered a road submerged in water. In an attempt to maintain balance and support herself, Sakshi reached out to grasp an electric pole. Tragically, upon contact, she was electrocuted.
Eyewitnesses reported the presence of exposed wires protruding from the electric pole at the time of the incident.
Promptly after the accident, nearby individuals rushed to assist the electrocuted woman. Subsequently, the Delhi Police were notified and swiftly arrived at the scene. They promptly transported Sakshi to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals, despite their best efforts, declared her deceased.
Following the distressing event, Sakshi's sister lodged a complaint with the police, alleging negligence on the part of the authorities.
Authorities investigating the incident revealed that the electrocution resulted from a leakage of current due to insulation failure in the cable connected to the pole.
The Delhi Police registered a case against the responsible party under Section 287 and 304 (Negligent conduct with respect to machinery) of the Indian Penal Code.
Forensic specialists were dispatched to the location to collect evidence, and an ongoing investigation sought to ascertain the exact cause of the incident and identify the party at fault.
