Woman found hanging inside Sakhi Centre in Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: Body of a married woman was found hanging inside a Sakhi Centre at Sudapada in Odisha’s Balangir district, late last night.

Though the reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the deceased, who hailed from Hinjilicut in Ganjam district, committed suicide by hanging herself.

According to reports, the woman was residing with a youth of Tikarpada at a rented house in Sonepur for three months after getting separated from her husband. The two allegedly had a love affair with each other.

Later, the youth abandoned the woman, following which she lodged a complaint with police. On the basis of the complaint, the youth was arrested and sent to jail. On the other hand, the woman was staying at the Sakhi Centre.

Last night, she locked herself inside a room and didn’t respond. On being informed by the authorities of the Sakhi Centre, police recahed the spot and broke open the door of the room, where her body was found hanging.

Police have recovered the body for post-mortem and started investigation into the incident.
