Woman gang raped, thrown off train in Odisha

Locals have rescued a woman who was gang raped, badly beaten up and thrown off a running train in Cuttack district of Odisha. The woman was found by villagers lying in a serious condition in a rice field near the train line abutting Badapada village in Choudwar area.

The woman, who claims to be a native of Karnataka, is in a state of shock after the brutal abuse and has been admitted to psychiatry department in SCB medical college, Cuttack.

The 32 year-old woman has been rescued by the Basundhara, an NGO, who have reported the case to the Bidanasi police station.

Around 7 am yesterday, local residents had found the injured woman lying in the field; they called up the NGO office that got the woman admitted to the SCB medical college.

The terrified woman, who has wounds all over her body, has become mentally unstable, and is in a state of trauma. After check-up, doctors at SCB have confirmed gang-rape of the victim.

The victim claims she stays in Vishkapatnam. She has two sons and a daughter, and claims that top police officials in Vishkapatnam are responsible for her situation. The woman has given many mobile numbers but most are switched off and those who picked up the phone have denied knowing the woman.

After registering a case, Bidanasi police have started their investigation.
