Woman gangraped over illegal Ganja trade in Odisha’s Ganjam

Kabisuryanagar: A woman was allegedly gangraped yesterday afternoon and the rape survivor was spotted today morning in critical condition near a water body at Khairapalli village under Kabisuryanagar police limits in Ganjam district.

The victim woman has been identified as Bishnupriya Gouda from Buguda locality and two of the accused were identified as residents of Babanpur village of the district.

According to a source, four persons who were in an inebriated condition took her to a nearby hilltop. The accused severely beat the woman and later gangraped her. Even to the extent, they inserted a beer bottle into her private part. The victim became critical following the incident.

A male acquaintance of the woman was also beaten by the accused persons, the source added.

Allegedly, the crime was a fallout of rivalry over the illegal Ganja (cannabis) trade.

Some locals who found the woman informed Kabisuryanagar police and the personnel immediately took her to a health facility in the town and admitted her for treatment.
