Woman hacked inside office by husband, critical in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a woman suffered critical injuries after she was allegedly hacked by her husband in her office in Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar today. The victim was identified as Madhusmita Das.

As per reports, Madhusmita was working at a real estate firm whose office was located in Krutibandhu apartments within Bharatpur police limits here. Sources said she was going through a rough patch in her marriage and family dispute had led to bad blood between the couple.

On Monday, when she was working, her husband into her office and in an alleged attempt to kill her, hacked Madhusmita with a sharp weapon. While she collapsed with serious injuries, none of the office staff came to her rescue initially out of fear. Later, some of them caught hold of  the man and handed him over to the police when he tried to flee. Madhusmita was rushed to the nearest hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.

Police on getting information, reached the place and detained the accused. Investigation is underway. Further details are awaited.
