Woman held for killing 5-yr-old in Odisha Capital 21 days after crime

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today arrested the prime accused in the chilling murder of a five-year-old boy in Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar 21 days after the crime being committed.

Tanushree Parmanik, a woman resident from Khandgairi area, was arrested today for allegedly strangulating her neighbour’s son, Sairam Patra to death on June 3.

After being discharged from AIIMS Bhubaneswar where the woman was undergoing treatment for Schizophrenia since June 3, the police arrested her and produced in the Bhubaneswar court. Worth mentioning, the Commissionerate Police registered a case against her under Section 302 of IPC following the incident.

Meanwhile, family members of the deceased said Tanushree got her admitted to the hospital to evade arrest. They want exemplary punishment to the accused.

While investigating the murder, the Commissionerate Police recorded the statement of Tanushree’s five-year-old daughter, the sole witness into the incident. Sources said Tanushree’s daughter said in her statement said that her mother had strangulated Sairam in her house.
