Woman in quarantine delivers healthy baby in Odisha’s Ganjam

Ganjam: While the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown have affected the normal life for many, good things are also happening in the life of a few others. A 28-year-old woman who returned from Surat delivered a baby boy at an institutional quarantine in Ganjam district today.

As per reports, the woman, Santoshini Pradhan along with husband Driver Pradhan has been staying at the institutional quarantine in Mardakota Harihar High School under Beguniapada block since May 6 after the couple’s return from Surat. Santoshini underwent labour today afternoon and gave birth to the baby boy at 3.59 PM at the quarantine centre.

After receiving information about the delivery, local doctor reached the quarantine centre and carried out medical examination of Santoshini and her baby. Both the woman and her baby are doing fine, the doctor said.

An official of the local administration said keeping in view the return of a large number migrants into Ganjam district, all kind of arrangements have been made at quarantine centres at all panchayats.
