Woman injured in elephant attack in Odisha; succumbs

In a tragic incident, a young woman in Odisha’s Ganjam district succumbed to her injuries after having been attacked by an elephant in the morning today.

The 28-year-old woman identified as Rina Naik of Sisunda village under Tarsingh forest range had gone to the forest in the morning today to collect kendu leaves when she was attacked by an elephant, reports said.

The elephant before trampling with its foot picked her up with its trunk and smashed onto the ground, reports added.

Rina, who was brought to the Sub Divisional Hospital here succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment, reports further added.
