Woman kidnapped, raped for five days in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: A woman was allegedly abducted and raped for five days in Choudwar area in Odisha’s Cuttack district.

The victim was rescued and the accused person was detained by the police for interrogation in the matter.

According to reports, the 29-year-old unmarried woman of Kantol area under Athagarh NAC was kidnapped by a youth namely Sanjay Barik of Kantol village late on July 18 night while she was going outside the house for toilet. She fell unconscious and next morning found herself in a confined room at Agrahat area under Choudwar police limits.

The youth allegedly raped her for five days in the closed room and offered her for marriage. He reportedly threatened to kill her if she denies his proposal.

Police source said that the victim’s mother lodged a missing complaint at Athagarh Police Station after she failed to find her in the morning. During investigation, the police came to know her whereabouts. In support of the Choudwar police, Athagarh police raided a house in Agrahat area and rescued the abductee from a confined room. The accused youth, who was present inside the room, was also caught during the raid.

A case has been lodged and the accused has been detained, police said.
